Larry Ellison comes to Dinner
( Actually, we get to go to his home…)

Few days back, we had the great opportunity to be invited by Oracle to represent jubi.ai in a global startup representation to Larry Ellison’s house for an intimate evening of drink & long chats.
Here are the top 3 takeaways that I must share.
1) When I asked him what’s been the LARGEST contributor to Oracle’s scale and success : ( Larry started from a garage, and grew Oracle to a 40 billion $ in sales company), he promptly responded that’s it’s HIRING people who are smart and who have scaled over time. He went into great detail to back that hypothesis …pursuing SMART people & winning as a smart team is the NO 1 SECRET to Oracle’s roaring success according to him , and I think there’s a treasure of learning in that
2) Larry said that 80% of Oracle’s success is brutally PRIORITIZING to pursue a LARGE MARKET. And the large monies that come with dominating that large market. Oracle’s massive success in databases have singularly allowed them to expand in other categories and fund innovation over time
3)As a personal hack, Larry was emphatic about continuously sharpening the saw and continuous hard work. The man still is a very hands-on CXO which means he rules on a centralized decision-making structure and has to keep up on every change & advancements in the world … from biology to sales, reading technical papers every night to preparing the company to launch in new areas like healthcare and deeper AI. HARD WORK keeps smartness alive
Hope you have a great day and have some takeaways from this to get better at your work. Stay strong

P.S: The pic is from his balcony that overlooks the San Francisco Bay, the Alcatraz prison on one side and the Golden gate bridge on the other. The man surely has earned the view
