Why do we need to worry about the future and think about surviving the world of AI?
Thanks to the work we do everyday, we have a ringside view of what the future of automation will look like. Well, it’s beyond debate now, that the rapid pace of advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) mean that (very very) soon,AI-led automation is going to be all pervasive in enterprise work-flows. The time has passed to warn that the “Bots are coming” — fact is, they are already here.
Tomorrow’s businesses will compete on being leaner, sharper and more automated than ever before. Every business of tomorrow, is going to be an Artificial Intelligence business.
But the euphoria of doing something great at work during the day, also has a gargantuan flip-side — and that gives us sleepless nights often.
India, by 2020, is going to be the youngest nation in the world. We are talking about 450 million youth. Youth, who in the most potent times of their life/career would wake up to a harsh reality — AUTOMATION
India, by the way, already fares quite dismal in terms of unemployment, some stats indicate that we are one of the worst in Asia. Add ‘automation’ to this, and we are staring at a bottomless chasm.
At jubi.ai , we think our education system is vastly under-prepared to embrace this neo-reality. In an increasingly automated world, staying employable will need vastly different skill-sets — things that are never taught in our college curriculums.
We predict widespread unemployment in the coming decade, if as a nation, we cant revolutionize our thoughts and education & revisit everything that we are teaching to our youth. Earlier the better, and ‘time’, is really slipping away fast.
How much ever gloom or doom does it sound, WE think we have a responsibility. So, hereon, at jubi.ai, we commit to doing whatever we can to start building the future infrastructure where our youth finds a place under the sun and pick up the right skill-sets & attitude that enable them to be at the driver’s seat in the world of bots, machines and automation.
Here are some ideas we will work on, and will look at collaborating with stakeholders across the ecosystem to make this happen (Ideas welcome):
- Technology for all : We believe that there’s no way to stay competitive in the future as professionals without a fundamental friendship with technology. We propose creating an ecosystem that makes this possible in India. From school, to colleges to corporates … it’s never too late to start
- Skill-building for the age of AI : Being able to master high-order human-skills is the only way to master the age of AI. Skills like creative thinking, social intelligence, psychology, first-principal thinking, leadership, knowledge-transfer, understanding business & automation. We will look at organizing & scaling up on distributing these knowledge-resources, preferably in partnership with existing educational institutes
- Facilitating an ecosystem of new job-descriptions, internships and job-roles : The future of jobs will be about designations we don’t know of yet, and skill-sets that need as much unlearning of what we know as the learning of new. We propose to create an ecosystem with our existing clients and relationships, where we are able to train the youth on-job, offer them a first-hand view of the future and radically accelerating their learning-processes to be able to stay sharp and employable
- Facilitating business models and ideas of future : We plan to extend our tech-support and business-thinking to anyone from anywhere interested to create business models of the future that need an AI/automation infrastructure. We also propose working for deserving non-profits either pro-bono or at radically nominal pricing.
Last, but not the least … we commit to reserving a meaningful percentage of our future revenues and time & energy of each one of us to facilitate all that it takes to not just do business, but create an infrastructure of good for the future to come.
Today is Day 1, and we request all of you to join us in this journey. #LetsBegin
